Morning

The early morning alarm calls
I answer
I rush to my quiet space
It is a sacred space
And a sacred time

For a couple of hours, I am alone
Alone with my thoughts,
Alone with my computer
And God

I write
 I think
  I mull
   I pray
    I ask
     I seek
      I review
       I write

Just me,
And God

How incredible is that?

And if I write a few words that touch you
Then I have done
What I came here to do

I love my mornings

Naked

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

Naked, exposed
Showing the world your underbelly
Exposing your privates
Private thoughts, private talents
Private dreams and ideas

We are naked when we share
When we say, “I made this”
“I am at fault”
“I wanted to do this”

You can’t stay clothed forever
You should bring it out in the open
Sooner or later
You must expose yourself,
Your ideas, your talent
Even your mistakes

And when you do, and when we like
What we see
We celebrate your willingness
To be naked in front of all of us

Because then we see the beautiful you
The creative you
The thoughtful you
The amazing you
The honest you

Thank you for being naked

They Are Playing a Game

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

They are playing a game
Josh, Jacob and their Nanny
The chatter is constant
About nothing and everything

We’ve talked about the future
And school schedules,
Colds and the sniffles
Work problems, music
Everything

I’m sitting nearby listening
Watching, enjoying the view
As they play their game
As the tendrils of family stretch and reach

I love our grandkid relationships
I love how comfortable they are
When they come to our home
We are trusted and safe in their eyes

What a treasure,
To have our grandkids actually
Want to come for a visit
They are all good kids
All eight – so proud, so very proud
