The Little Man

The Little Man
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs

A little man just
rode by my window.
His dad was by his side.

He was on a small bike,
no pedals, no brake,
no training wheels.

It is his first bike,
and Dad is there.
If he falls, Dad catches him.
If he goes too fast,
Dad slows him down.

Dad is looking out
for this little man,
for he wants him to
grow up to become
a big man.

He sees his future,
framed in the helmet,
and tennis shoes,
and jacket.

He sees a bundle
of potential,
of large possibilities,
riding that small bike.

What a responsibility.
What an opportunity
to tag along
as this little man
turns into
his own unique self.

A God-moment
in the making.
