Listening

I try and listen.
Sometimes I hear
what I didn’t hear.
Occasionally I don’t hear
what I heard.
Hmm
Listening is difficult.
It requires discipline,
And listening.
I can’t rehearse while I’m listening.
I can’t prepare my next spiel.
I’m just … listening.
Maybe, perhaps, I’ll learn something.
Maybe, perhaps, I’ll improve
with my listening.
