Sally Lin Cut Her Chin

© 2014 by P Michael Biggs

Sally Lin cut her chin
She used to grin; now she is chagrined
Skin hangs where her chin has been
Some may say it’s her dorsal fin

Her chin will heal
It will, it will
It will likely peel
Now that’s the deal

When she is well
She must not dwell
On what befell
Of her chin tale

She’s only a girl
With a big long curl
And with a swirl
She gives it a twirl
That hides the cut
On Sally Lin’s chin

Boys and Toys

© 2014 by P Michael Biggs

I am a boy
And I’m annoyed
I like fun toys
I jump for joy

Some big strong boys
Destroyed my toys
I’m annoyed
They’re not nice boys

I try to repair
I care, I care
It seems unfair
They destroyed what I share

And if I dare
I’d pull their hair
Then they would swear
So I don’t dare

Toys and big boys
I dared to share
What’s become of my toys
They’re in great need of repair

Pretty Girls

I like pretty girls
In little pig tails
And frilly dresses
With pearls

Do girls like me
It’s plain to see
I’m married to one
We were meant to be

My Pickle

© 2014 by P Michael Biggs

Once I bought a pickle
I only paid a nickel
I wanted to cut up my pickle

I used a hammer and a sickle

Now this poem may seem fickle
It’s only about my nickel pickle
It would be great if you were tickled
About my nickel pickle

The Prized Possession

A new poem from my friend, Brenda Williams. All rights reserved (c) Brenda Williams

When all the scores are final,
when all the prizes are won
when we’ve won every title
and all the work is done

After we own all we desire
after our appetites sated
after we quench every fire
after we gain that for which we waited

Once we end our contention
once we give up fierce control
once we trade rest for tension
and surrender our wayward control

As we learn to yield our will
as we relinquish our rights
as we become quiet and still
and seek immortal delights

Then our life begins to start
then we touch eternity
then we receive what God imparts
and we live abundantly

Only one prize can we own
only one possession will live
only this, all else is on loan
and it’s the love we receive and give
.

The Dark

Our guest poet today is my long-time friend Brenda Williams.  We have a rich history of a friendship and sharing for nearly 40 years.  Welcome Brenda.

The dark sky helps the stars to burn bright
and offers a backdrop for their brilliant light.
So, in this life, when troubles appear
we can know God’s hand is hovering near.

The misery we face serves to impart
growth and abundance in our restless heart.
Blessing the battle, praising the pain
brings hidden life treasure to be gained.

Pausing to lift our darkness in praise
adds depth to our lives, and light to our days.
In my pain and struggle, God, help me to see
that You’re building a pathway to heaven for me.
