Fall

Fall
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs

Fall is here.
And what does that mean?
We’ll see more orange and red,
yellow and gold.
We’ll crunch fallen leaves,
and rake them up,
and sometimes jump into them.

We’ll build more fire pits,
and roast marshmallows,
and eat s’mores.

We’ll sometimes bring the guitar,
and sing, and tell stories,
and laugh, and hold hands.

And bring out the cozy sweaters,
and knit caps, hoodies,
and gloves and scarves.

Yes, fall is here.
And sooner than soon,
Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I love fall!

It's Never Too Late

It Is Never Too Late
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs

 It’s never too late
to pursue a dream,
or wish upon a star,
or think about what might yet be.

Dreams do come true,
when your two
and when your ninety-two

When I was a kid,
I wanted to be Superman,
a football hero,
and Mickey Mantle

And now, to some of my readers,
I have super powers of encouragement,
and I watch football,
and squeak like Mickey Mouse.

Ah, but in my mind
I can still do things,
only my body doesn’t know it yet.

And yet, I still have my mind,
and my imagination,
my thoughts, and my dreams.

There are goals and dreams
I can still dream,
and little by little
I get around to them.

I’ve replaced speed
for better action,
better thinking,
better doing
what I can do.

‘cause, you see,
I still believe
it’s never too late
to do my best.

What's Possible

What’s Possible
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs

I would rather consider what’s possible
than wallow in limitations.

Success gurus tell us,
“Anything’s possible, if you believe.”
This I know, I’m better off thinking
of possibilities.

We’ve been limited for too long
by limited thinking.
Religion does that to us.
As does shallow thinking,
impossible thinking.

And to let others think for us?
Well, that is the greatest of sins.
We have brains,
we have reasoning skills,
we have an abundance of information.
We have the power to make
our own choices.

We CAN think,
And there are
countless possibilities
out there.

As a jazz friend once said …
“There’s more here than what’s
on the page.”

What’s on your page?
What are you doing with it?
