And God Moved

And God Moved
© 2020 by P Michael Biggs

I was born 71 years ago,
and God has moved
in my life ever since.

I broke my arm at nine,
and God moved.

I got my first job
at Redford’s Five & Dime
and God moved.

I lived my dream of
soloing with my
high school band,
and God moved.

The longed-for day came
when I went off to college,
and God moved.

I graduated on time,
and God moved.

My first job came along
in Orlando,
and God moved.

Then came Albuquerque,
Seattle, South Carolina,
Indiana, Texas,
and back to Seattle,
and God moved.

I’ve had incredible highs
in my careers,
and painful lows.
and through it all
God moved.

I’ve come through
Kennedy’s assassination,
the MLK marches,
the pros and cons
of Vietnam,

I endured Watergate,
Clinton’s lies,
the devastation of 911
and God moved.

Even today, with rioting,
burning of cities,
destruction of property,
anger and frustration,
I see God still moves.

Somehow, I believe
He is still around,
still watching,
still making cause and effect
in subtle ways.

Our woes and joys
are not at an end.
We are, perhaps,
not even at the
beginning of the end.

Maybe we are
at the end of
of the beginning.

This I know.
God is moving.

If I Should Forget

If I Should Forget
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

If I should forget to say my prayers
God would still watch over me.
He would never forget me.

If I should forget to say ‘Thank you’
God would still be nearby,
watching, caring, and giving
again and again

If I should forget to say ‘Goodnight’,
He would never slumber nor sleep.
He would hover nearby, all night
just because I am loved.
He never takes his eyes off me

If I should complain that it is
too hot, too cold, to rainy
or we need more snow,
the world will still revolve.
the moon and stars will shine
and my heavenly Father will
keep loving me
through it all.

You see,
Sometimes I forget,
and yet, He never forgets me.

New Skills Come with Mistakes

New Skills Come with Mistakes
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

Are you making mistakes?
Good.  Then you are learning.
You’re probably doing things
you’ve never done before.

That’s all very good.
Very good indeed.

Make big mistakes.
Make glorious mistakes.
Make blunders, goofs,
foul-ups, miss-steps,
and mess-ups.

Pretty soon, along the way,
you’ll start to emerge.
You’ll bloom and blossom.
You’ll grow into whatever,
whomever it is
you seek to become.

Even if you’re scared
of doing, of becoming,
of growing,
mistakes are OKAY.

They are always in season.

Good for you!

What Can You See?

What Can You See?
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

What can you see,
gazing out your window today?
Do you see birds soaring,
lushness all around,
life bubbling?

Do you see mankind
as they shuffle,
or jog, or hobble,
or stroll along?

What do you see
That you can’t really see?

Can you see the invisible?
Can you see your dreams,
and where they could take you?
Can you see the impossible,
And perhaps, make it possible?

Can you see your future business,
your future son or daughter,
your future mate?

Can you see your future,
full of hope?

I like eyesight,
for I can see all that is
around me.

I like insight,
for it shows me
what might someday be.
