A Time for Rhyme Top 5

What a marvelous time of the year.  I can’t remember a more enjoyable Christmas season.

This week I’m kicking back and recharging my brain.  That gives you the chance to review some of my best and most popular posts.

Enjoy.

See you on the other side of the new year.

Why Are They Here

© 2015 by P Michael Biggs

"Why are they here," he mused.
He’s just a baby.
Well, more than a baby,
But he hasn’t done anything yet,
Except cry and eat, eat and cry.

"Why are they here?"
What magnetism draws them?
What is His destiny?
What is His brand?

I was given orders.
Take the mother as my own.
Raise this child as my own.
I wanted to run, but I stayed.

So here we sit.
Here they come
They look, and stare
And wonder, and whisper

It is not a moment for talk
It is a moment for thinking
And listening and dreaming.

I am the father
Why am I here?

I am chosen to guide,
To teach, to love and to obey.
I wonder where this obedience will lead.

Christmas Children

© 2015 by P Michael Biggs

We are Christmas children
We grow small at Christmas
We bow the knee, the head, and the heart
And we embrace the simple joys for a season

Children and Christmas blend as one.
Children know how to do Christmas best.
They dream and let their imaginations soar.
They believe in miracles and make-believe fantasies.

And they believe in a love that can be captured
But it can’t be contained
And it can’t be explained

Children at Christmas
Let it infect one and all.

Christmas Magic

© 2015 by P Michael Biggs

There is much ado at Christmastime
We ooh and ah at the lights
We take in the sights
We cherish the friendlier moments

We pause to hear … and what do we hear?
A whisper, a prayer, a sigh, a plea,
“If I love you will you love me back?”
“If I trust you will you trust me back?”

And we wonder about the gifts we give
Are they enough?  Are they good enough?
Are they right – in color, size?
Did we get it right?
Did we remember everything?

We want connection
We want community
We want friendship
And we want love
We just disguise it in the wrappings
And trappings of Christmas

At Christmas we dare to stretch
We dare to reach out
More than at any other time

And if we connect
If we touch, well,
That is the sparkle of Christmas magic
In all of its glory

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Dance

© 2015 by P Michael Biggs

Christmas joy to you and yours
It’s whispered a thousand times this season
And back of the greeting, what if …
What if there is a prayer for a simpler time

A simpler life
A simpler joy
A slower pace
A longer lasting toy

What if the prayer includes
“Peace on earth, good will to all mankind”
What if love was implied somewhere in the message?

What if an invitation was included?
An invitation to come and dance
Would we dare reach out and take the offered hand?
Would we dance the dance?

And if we dance
Then we just might, perhaps
Complete the prayer
It is a prayer of connection.
It is a prayer of hope.
It is, perhaps, the prayer of Christmas
