We’re on a getaway

We got away

Time for rest

This is the best

We’re on a getaway

We often getaway

We need to get out of the fray

Life is hard

So we place a high regard

On the getaway

We need a day

Just to get away

We need to play

Perhaps pray

And soak in some rays

On our occasional getaway

What do we say

On our day away

Love words that convey

And some occasional horseplay

When we greet the day

While driving the parkway

This poem I’ll say

Is just my way

Of chipping away

On days when I may

Not go away

On our getaway
