I Have a Dream

I Have a Dream
© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

“I have a dream.”
Dr. King said that.
And many today reap
The benefits of those dreams.

‘Tis a good thing, I think,
that he didn’t say
“I have a plan.”

Dreams start enterprises.
They start movements.
They are the beginning
of tall buildings
and short stories

Dreams are important
to our future.
What are you dreaming of
that we will need tomorrow?

Second Chances (A Prose)

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

Second chances are a gift.
We get to stand up … again.
We get to bat … again.
We get a do-over.

What if some of our second chances
become masterpieces?
What if they enhance our education?
And if we learn, all is well.
All is well, indeed.

So, take another crack at life.
Swing again and again.
Try, fail, try, fail better.
It’s called second chance.

Some call it grace.

The Reason

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

We are here for a reason.
Perhaps it is our season.
What are you doing for others?
They are, after all, our brothers.

We’re born for a reason.
This life we’re given is our season
To go and do, learn and earn,
There’s a reason for this season

In life, what is your aim?
Every skill is one to tame.
We lay no blame,
we lay no shame.
Our aim is ours to claim.

Not a Bad Life

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

Maybe it’s a bad day,
Not a bad life.
Each day has its struggles,
Its worries and its strife.

And we get through it
We struggle to survive
We take it bit by bit
Even when we’re ninety-five

We aim to endure
That is for sure
Sometimes we take a detour
In searching for a cure

Life is not a bad life
Even when in strife
We work, we think
even when not in sync
It’s life, it’s life, it’s life
