An Ode to Crazy People

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

Crazy people are crazy.
They do things others
won’t do.
They go where others
dare not go.

Crazy people see
life differently.
They see what has
never been.
They see what
could be.

Crazy people think they
can change the world.
And sometimes they do.

Crazy people know
the sky is not the limit,
for there are footprints
on the moon.

Crazy people know that
the mind is so capable,
so full of infinite possibilities.

Call me crazy,
but I think I see gold
in them thar’ hills.

The Leap

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

We come to the edge,
The end of where we are
And peer at the next step.

Will we leap?
Will we take the plunge?
Do we have enough stuff
inside us to jump?

Of course, there is fear.
Will it work?
Will they buy?
Will they listen and read?
Will they like us?
Will they come back?
Will we still be friends?
Are we strong enough?

Tough dilemmas.
Tough decisions.
And what next?

We search for a parachute,
a safety net,
a guarantee.

There are none –
not one.

Are we prepared enough,
skilled enough,
talented enough,
thinking enough?

Have we studied enough,
read enough?

And one fine day
We leap.

We fall …
and then the winds of success
catch our sails
and we soar,
we fly,
we become!

What a moment!
We find success at the edge
of our dreams and hopes,
and after we leap.

I say LEAP…
and happy landings.

We Need Dreamers

© 2017 by P Michael Biggs

We need a few dreamers,
people who go where
we should not go,
men and women who
brave the wilderness,
who map out new frontiers,
who invent the future.

Yes, we need a few dreamers.

We need dreamers who will
overcome the nay-sayers,
and run past ‘stop signs’
just because they can.

We need dreamers who
see tomorrow today,
who lead us where
we don’t know
we need to go.

We need dreamers
who will help invent
what we need
even though we don’t know
what we need

We need dreamers who look
at the distant hills and say,
“I wonder what’s over there,”
and then they go
and find out.

We need dreamers
who don’t know the bounds
of earth, and time, and space.
They just go out
and find the edges,
and push them further out.
They dream of ‘what if’ and then …
they lasso it and bring it home.

Where can we find
some dreamers like this?

Where, indeed.
