Roses in January

Roses in January
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

We went to Hawaii in September.
I’m remembering those times in January.

I got my dream bicycle when I was nine.
I remember it 61 years later in January.

I’ve met and rubbed elbows
with a few ‘heroes’ of mine
down through the years.

Three of them are gone now,
But I remember them today, in January.
Their essence, their kindness,
their patience and words
have stayed with me all these years.

I’m having roses as if freshly picked
simply because I have memories
of days and times and people
of yesterday.

Memories are, indeed
roses on a cold January evening.

Becoming You

Becoming You
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

Are you becoming you,
as you pass through
this sphere called earth?

The longer I live,
the more I want to give
of what I do best.

I’ve stopped rainbow chasing,
I’m getting good at facing
my best side, my strong side.

When God looks at me,
I want Him to see
the best Me I could ever be!

The Old Ford Is Dead

The Old Ford Is Dead
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs

My Ford is dying.
I ain’t lying.
We’re giving it away,
that’s sad to say.

It lasted eighteen years
and took us from there to here
And now, there it sits.
It no longer fits

It was reliable.
That’s undeniable.
We fixed what broke
and always said we’d have it
till it croaked.

It croaked.
It’s broke.
Its usefulness has been revoked.

We now make room
for a good one we presume
but for now, we say ‘Thank you’.
You gave us wings and we flew.
