Take Your Turn

You don’t need
someone’s permission,
or a hall pass,
or a certification
to take your turn.

You just take it.

You don’t need
special clothes,
a theme song,
or the moon and stars
in their proper order
to take your turn.

You just take it.

We take our turn
when we are ready,
and sometimes …
when we are not.
We just step up
and take our turn.

We seize the moment,
we grasp the brass ring
and we do the thing.

We take our turn.

And sometimes
We stand in amazement
at how our turn
takes up places.

New and exciting places,
adventures, road trips,
mountain tops, scenic sea views.

I’m standing in line
ready to take my turn.

Come stand beside me.
