Joy Is Not a
Crumb
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs
Mary Oliver said it first.
“Joy is not made
to be a crumb.”
Hold onto that
for a moment.
Joy is not fleeting.
It doesn’t run away
if someone enjoys it
too much.
Joy comes when invited.
It shows up in phone calls of love,
letters and emails,
words of appreciation,
and intimate moments.
Joy is not small,
nor can it be crunched down
into an acorn shell.
Joy is large.
It is meant to be expressed,
shared, celebrated, triumphed,
proclaimed, shouted out.
I say, “Let joy get out.”
Let it become the
Peace De Resistance
the ultimate Soufflé of expressions.
