Odd and
Obscure Thoughts
© 2019 by P Michael Biggs
What I want to do,
and what I encourage you to do
in this new year, or any time of the year,
is to do some odd and obscure living.
Think thoughts you’ve never
thought before.
Break a few rules,
make a few mistakes,
trip, fall down, blunder,
sing off key,
and snort when you laugh.
Eat pie at least once a month,
and work out at the gym some too.
Walk in the woods with
nowhere to go,
and follow any trail
you find for an hour.
Go to London,
or Louisiana,
Madrid, or Mississippi.
Get out of town for a day
or a month.
Just go.
Find love, even if it’s a rock.
Find happiness, even if it’s in a book.
Find joy in the simplest of tunes.
Laugh at the silly, the obscure.
If you need help, read Shel Silverstein.
Above all,
do the new and different.
It’s good for you.
