Becoming a True You

Becoming a True You
© 2018 by P Michael Biggs

Who am I?
I ponder, I sigh.
I seek, I cry,
“I’m a nice guy.”

What in this world
do I want to become?

What can I become?
A drummer who drums,
a bum who seeks crumbs?
What in this world
do I want to become?

When life abates
and I stand at the gates,
what will await?
Will anyone advocate?

What did I do,
with each breath I drew?
And a voice I knew,
gave me a clue.

Did you become you?
Did you do all you could do?
Your talents may have been few,
but what did you do?

You were only called
to be a true YOU!
