Could Be

My role in life, as I see it,
is to help somebody
become who they could be.
We’re not labels.
We’re not stuck
in a time-warp.
Our past isn’t a mandate
for our future.
Every one of us
is a possibility.
We have immense potential
for good and charitable work
in this world.
Maybe we just need someone
to come along and push us
in a good and gentle way.
I wonder what else I could be?
And I wonder what you may yet
still become?
